you for visiting the ReefOptics Lighting website. I thought you might like to know a little about me, Weston Hull, Jr., and why I started ReefOptics Lighting. In early 2005, in order to meet the lighting needs of avid salt water aquarium hobbyists, professionals, and myself – I set out to look for decent priced aquarium lighting.

As a salt water enthusiast for several years, I found that what I had been told was true – it can be an expensive hobby – I’m talking about $250 to $300 just for replacing the metal halide lights. And, of course, we have all those other items that need to be replaced throughout the year. But I figured there must be ways to lessen the cost. The most obvious place to start is hard to miss – the lights.

As an engineering student and full-time licensed airline lead-technician of many years, I decided to begin my cost reduction research with the lights. I looked at the construction of major brand name lights first and then located a couple of manufacturers capable of producing at least the same quality at a lower price. After working with the manufactures on the configurations and designs, we developed the great quality products described on this site for a great price.
